Vols Player Releases Statement After Leaving Gator Game At Halftime

After the loss, Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt said that linebacker Quarte Sapp was asked to leave the sideline after refusing to enter the game. Pruitt confirmed that Sapp did not quit.

Pruitt did not disclose Sapp’s future status with the program.

Sapp has released a statement. It gives a different version of events than Pruitt’s.

According to Sapp, he was never asked nor did he refuse to go into the game. The fourth-year junior described “a sideline altercation” that he expects to be solved “internally.”
