Jalen Hurts to stay at Alabama through 2018

Saturday vs. UL Lafayette Jalen Hurts entered the game late in the First Quarter. This marked the fifth game of the season that Hurts made an appearance for the Tide, a significant milestone because it means Jalen will no longer be able to take a redshirt season this year and will only have one more year of eligibility remaining after this year.

Hurts is on course to graduate in December, and could still choose to transfer for graduate school and play for another team in 2019.

“Jalen has been very, very professional about the way he’s sort of handled the situation he’s in,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said Thursday via ESPN. “I’ve said it’s a unique situation. Nobody’s ever been in this situation before. He won 26 games here and then all of a sudden somebody else is playing. But what he has done is he’s worked every day to try to get better.”

Alabama went on to win the game 56-14 Saturday against the Ragin' Cajuns.
