Trevor Lawrence being Tempted to Leave Clemson

Clemson Quarterback Trevor Lawrence just wrapped up his freshman season with a National Championship win over Alabama and will have to wait at least 2 more years before declaring for the NFL draft. This however is not stopping Don Yee, an agent who represents Tom Brady, from trying to get him to leave Clemson and join the upstart developmental league called Pacific Pro Football. Via Pro Football:

Enter Don Yee, the agent for Tom Brady, who’s starting up Pacific Pro Football, a minor league that plans to start playing this year. Yee says the developmental league would pay Lawrence a salary now, help him land endorsements, and then allow him to leave for the NFL when he’s eligible.

“Trevor Lawrence at Clemson, we would like to make him a player offer right away,” Yee said on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. “He would be a professional and he would learn an NFL-style game before he declares for the draft.”

Lawrence has not officially commented on the offer as of yet, but one would imagine it would be highly unlikely he would leave Clemson for the Pacific Pro Football League, but this scenario is just one of many similar situations we may be seeing in the future, as the re-boot of the XFL will also allow players to join the league before the NFL which will still make players wait three years after high school.
