Toronto Ends Lightning's Winning Streak at Five

The Toronto Maple Leafs (20-7-6) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (20-10-1) 4-1 on Tuesday night in Toronto. The loss snaps Tampa Bay's winning streak at five games.

Toronto built a lead thanks to a goal from Michael Bunting late in the first period and a power play goal from Auston Matthews early in the second period. Vladislav Namestnikov scored early 4:05 into the third period to pull the Lightning within 2-1, but that would be as close as Tampa Bay would get.

Toronto added empty net goals late from Pierre Engvall and William Nylander to make it 4-1. Andrei Vasilevskiy went 36-for-38 in net in the losing effort.

The Lightning next return to action on Wednesday night to play the Detroit Red Wings in the second game of a back-to-back. Puck drop from Detroit is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
