A rapper accused of murder could find out today if his lyrics can be used against him in court. A judge will hold a hearing on the latest motion filed in YNW Melly's double murder trial.
The Broward State Attorney's Office announced they plan to introduce lyrics from dozens of Melly's songs as evidence in February's trial.
Melly's lawyers say that would violate an agreement they had with the previous prosecutor, Kristine Bradley.
The state, though, says that agreement was never made, and even if it was, it became void when Bradley was taken off the case.
Prosecutors also say the lyrics are Melly's own words and could amount to an admission.
